MJM FISCHER EDWARDS SANDERS Anarchist Psychophysical Parallelism
MJM was installed on the foundation of Michael's and John's long standing collaborations, with performances at Donaufestival Krems/AT or Mopomoso concert series London. It premiered as a trio together with Marc Sanders at the Madrid 'Festival Internacional de Improvisación - Hurta Cordel' in 2009. MJM create music solely out of the moment ensuing from well sorted knowledge of theory, techniques and practice. Fischer, Edwards and Sanders are sharing the polylogical moment within the creational process, dedication, reception, negotiation. Three players of extended profile in today's international free improvised music community. They mirror the anarchic principle that any moment can become a catalyst for the radical change to a richer and deeper poetic space of sound. “Anarchist Psychophysical Parallelism” gestures toward two intertwined ideas: Anarchist – a rejection of hierarchical structures, both musically (no leader, no predetermined forms) and philosophically (a free exchange of impulses). Psychophysical Parallelism – a nod to the mind body debate, suggesting that mental intention and physical vibration run side by side, influencing each other without a causal chain. In practice, the album lets the listeners experience those parallel streams: the cerebral decision making of each player runs alongside the visceral, tactile response of their instruments and electronics. The music never resolves into a single narrative; instead, it offers simultaneous, overlapping arcs that invite the ear to choose which thread to follow. Mark Sanders plays the drums, John Edwards the double bass and Michael Fischer (feedback) saxophone.
